REGIONS
REGIONS
The world of Nevriande is divided into geographical regions, generally sticking to a specific biome or envrionment type for lore and roleplaying reasons! The roleplay channels are organized by villages and regions, so we have 6 villages and 6 regions in total! Each village typically corresponds to a region, but there is also immense diversity within them themselves. Mountain Vale encompasses both Northmaw and Skyheimr.
CLIMATE
Those living in each region, much similar to us humans in the real world, are typically adjusted and acclimated to the environment they have lived in or were raised in. What is chilly to a character in the southern beaches might be warm or even overbearing to a character hailing from the icy mountains. While there are no limits on where a character can live based on species, some species are still better suited to some environments.
WILDLIFE
The wildlife's prey/predator status varies depending on one's character and situation. A bird of prey is a predator to a young cub or pup, but easy prey to a seasoned hunter. Moose are often hunted by groups, but a lone hunter can be trampled by defensive hooves. The prey is relative to its location in the server; for example, desert animals in Seaside Gulf will obviously be found in the Red Desert and not on the beach. We have a very in depth lore doc about ponies in Nevriande here!
FRIGID EXPANSE
Weather: 50°F / 10°C at warmest, -20°F / -28°C at coldest. The snow only melts on the hottest days, yet permafrost still makes up a majority of this region. This region can be prone to rockslides, earthquakes, avalanches, blizzards and hail.
Frigid Expanse is a frigid land of ice and snow, not meant for the faint of heart. Its milder regions, though small, are lined with a bleakly grassed tundra that is dotted here and there with prey animals seeking respite from the icy mountains and bitter wintry weather. Just about everywhere else in the Bluff, however, is frozen over. Snow blankets the land, and the frosted surfaces of ponds and streams glint pale in the sun. Despite this climate being harsh and unforgiving, it's filled with wonders and curiosities too; mine shafts sit furrowed into the sides of the mountains, hot springs bubble in hidden caverns, and geysers spout water and steam like breaching whales. For those willing to brave its dangers, Wolf's Bluff is a land where gentle beauty can be found, nestled away amongst the snow and ice.
Wildlife: Polar Bears, Orcas, Birds of Prey, Moose, Elk, Caribou, Bison, Musk Ox, Yaks, Wolverines, Badgers, Walrus, Steppe Ponies.

MOUNTAIN VALE
Weather: 60°F / 15°C a warmest, -13°F / -25°C at coldest. It is rainy in the warmer months and very windy in the cooler months. This region can be prone to rockslides, flooding, earthquakes, avalanches and blizzards.
Mountain Vale is a land rolling with golden-grassed taigas and a vast range of mountains. Looking as though it is almost in a permanent state of autumn, except for the cold winters, this region has some of the most impressive sights that Nevriande has to offer. The occasional forest dapples the sprawling expanse of the Vale, and a strong river cuts through the region's heart. Wildlife acclimated to a colder climate are prosperous here, though are somewhat hard to find, due to the well-worn travel routes that snake throughout this area and branch towards Northmaw and Skyheimr. Overall, Mountain Vale is a vast and breathtaking region, from its snow-kissed mountaintops to its lowest golden glade.
Wildlife: Polar Bears, Grizzly Bears, Black Bears, Orcas, Birds of Prey, Moose, Elk, Caribou, Bison, Wolverines, Badgers, Porcupine, Steppe Ponies.
Prey: Fish (Salmon, Cod, Trout, etc.), Seals, Crabs, Birds (Ptarmigan, Quail, Puffins, Loons, Geese, etc.), Frogs, Beavers, Weasels, Rabbits, Rodents (Chipmunks, Shrews, Rats, Squirrels, etc.), Sheep, Goats, Boar, Deer, etc. Generally any tundra or taiga dwelling animal.
WESTERN PASSAGE
Weather: 70°F / 21°C at warmest, 0°F / -17°C at coldest. It snows in winter and is comfortably warm in fall, with the most consistent of climates in Nevriande though very humid and rainy. This region can be prone to flooding, earthquakes, blizzards, tropical storms, tornadoes, and sinkholes.
Western Passage is a land shimmering with the blue reflection of rivers, lakes, ponds, and streams. The land itself is green and lush, kept healthy by rainfall and the bodies of water that surround it. Forests dot the land here and there, cloaking the earth below in pleasant shade; marshes soak the roots of trees, and teem happily with frogs. This region is very well-traveled, inundated with travel paths and friendly faces that one will often pass by if they travel the roads here. Overall, the Passage is pleasant in all of its stretches, and is a welcoming change from the densely wooded and the ice-capped regions that border it.
Wildlife: Grizzly Bears, Black Bears, Birds of Prey, Moose, Elk, Caribou, Bison, Wolverine, Badgers, Steppe Ponies, Snakes.
Prey: Fish (Salmon, Bass, Trout, Catfish, etc), Otters, Crustaceans (Crabs, Crayfish, Lobster, etc), Birds (Geese, Duck, Swans, Herons, etc), Frogs, Weasels, Rabbits, Rodents (Muskrat, Vole, Beaver, Prairie dogs, etc), Sheep, Boar, Deer, etc.
GREENWOOD
Weather: 75°F / 23°C at warmest, 15°F / -9°C at coldest. Rainy in the summer and cold in the winter, this temperate forest seems to absorb the seasons and weather around it in great stride. This region can be prone to flooding, wildfires, drought, and sinkholes.
Greenwood is thick with forest; just about every square inch of this region boasts sturdy oak trees quivering with green leaves. What few spots that aren't shadowed by woodland canopies are open to the blue sky, grassy and green and fertile. An ocean borders Greenwood to the south, and a river runs smoothly past to the west. Streams bubble underneath the trees here and there, and caves and caverns pepper the landscape, tucked away into the forest. This region is extraordinarily prey-rich; wildlife thrives in these sun-dappled woods, and signs of life cling to every tree branch, and are pattered subtly upon the forest floor in the form of animal tracks.
Wildlife: Grizzly Bears, Black Bears, Birds of Prey, Elk, Caribou, Wolverines, Badgers, Porcupine, Steppe Ponies, Snakes.
Prey: Fish (Minnows, Catfish, Bass, etc.), Birds (Larks, Crows, Grouse, Song Birds, etc), Rodents (Vole, Martens, Squirrels, Hedgehogs, etc.), Frogs, Lizards, Rabbits, Deer, Raccoons, Skunk, Opossum, Boar, etc.
SEASIDE GULF
Weather: 95°F / 35°C at warmest, 50°F / 10°C at coldest. It never snows here and only reaches the colder temperatures a few weeks out of the year. This region can be prone to rockslides, earthquakes, tropical storms, tsunamis, heat waves and floods.
Seaside Gulf is an intriguing tropical land of saltwater and dense jungle. The ocean dips generously into this region, touching upon many of its features, and dense, vine-strewn jungles span along the Gulf to the northwest. This region is somewhat fragmented; much of it exists in the form of small, sandy islands, some only a stone's throw away from each other, others separated by the hopeless vastness of the water surrounding them. Seaside Gulf is considerably different from many of the other regions of Nevriande; it is truly a sight to behold, marbled through with golden sand and azure ocean. The unique flora that thrives in this region is similarly colorful, lighting the region up with hues of purple, red, and green. A marked contrast to the water and plant life that is abundant in this area, a large desert perches at its most southwest corner, dusty and orange and bone-dry, and just about devoid of life.
Wildlife: Sharks, Dolphins, Barracudas, Crocodiles, Apes, Birds of Prey, Large Flightless Birds, Otters, Bighorn Sheep, Snakes, Poisonous Animals, Steppe Ponies, Poisonous Sealife.
Prey: Fish (Anchovy, Snook, Bass, Catfish, etc.), Sealife (Octopi, Squids, Lobsters, Sea Turtles, Beached Whales, Sea Lions, etc), Birds (Seagulls, Sandpipers, Parrots, Toucans, Cassowaries, etc.), Monkeys, Tapirs, Sloths, Okapis, Deer, Tortoises, Aardvark, Armadillo, Flamingos, Pigs, etc.
EASTERN FIELDS
Weather: 85°F / 30°C a warmest, 30°F / 0°C at coldest. This climate varies greatly and is perfect for cultivating if one knows how to adapt and listen to the land. This region can be prone to flooding, earthquakes, tropical storms, wildfires, drought, dust storms and tornadoes.
Eastern Fields is a collection of bright, rolling hills that ripple onwards as far as the eye can reach. Golden sunlight pools upon every blade of grass here, rolling off of the petals of wildflowers that decorate the landscape and lighting up the horizon with a honeyed glow. Miles upon miles of farmland reaches out with fertile hands in this region, but tamed and untamed alike, the land is lush and viridian. Every once in a while, fields of corn and wheat shoot the green landscape through with gold. Forest stretches to the north, interrupting the otherwise bright and open landscape with cool shade. The ocean swells along the coast to the north as well.
Wildlife: Grizzly Bears, Black Bears, Badgers, Birds of Prey, Bison, Wolverines, Snakes, Steppe Ponies.
Prey: Fish (Snook, Bass, Catfish, Sheepshead, etc.), Birds (Ptarmigan, Quail, Pheasants, Turkey, Chickens, etc.), Opossums, Weasels, Rabbits, Rodents (Chipmunks, Shrews, Rats, Squirrels, etc.), Groundhogs, Armadillos, Sheep, Goats, Boar, Deer, etc.
